The Southwest Burlesque Showcase is the brain child of Kitty Irreverent and her esteemed co-producer, Devin D O'Leary. Like all good ideas, this one was dreamed up over a good cocktail...

The idea first came to Kitty in the early part of the last decade, at a time when a performer's calendar was relatively free of weekenders and conventions in various cities. At that that time, only two major conventions existed outside of Exotic World (Burlesque Hall of Fame) which had yet to move to the glitz and glamor of Las Vegas. Kitty was keenly aware of performers in neighboring states as communities in Denver, Colorado Springs, Phoenix and Austin grew.

Kitty and Devin wanted a show that would give all of the girls (and guys) in these cities a place to come. A show that would bring all of the troupes and solo performers in the Southwest to a great stage and let them do their thing. Not a competition, just an incredible show!

Over the years the Showcase has grown to encompass performers from not only the Southwest, but around the country as well. Today the Showcase is headed into it's sixth (6th) year, boasting an audience of over 1100 and close to 25 performers over two nights, in it's home theater the historic KIMO in downtown Albuquerque.

It's surpassed Kitty and Devin's wildest dreams and they freely admit they couldn't do it without their fellow performers in the NM community.
